It's nearly that time of year again! Time for lotr_sesa, that is. Are you as excited as we are?

In preparation for this year's round, and in the interest of streamlining the matching process, we the mods (caras_galadhon and empy) have decided to create a tag set for the challenge. What this means is that when signing up over on the AO3, you will be able to choose characters from a set list.

Because we value all feedback from our participants and to make sure we have a picture of the characters likely to be requested, we're opening the floor (erm, the comment section ;) ) to tag suggestions. Please feel free to comment with which characters you would like to see in the tag set! You can suggest as many characters as you like.

Hello, good to hear that the challenge will be running this year and hopefully, I'll be able to contribute. As to characters, the usual suspects, I suppose, but does this mean we can't add more characters, either canon or original?

Well, the tagset is an attempt to standardize character names used during signups, since the AO3 matches exact names, rather than variations. The point of asking in advance what people want in the tagset is so that we can populate the set with the characters people are going to want to request, but that doesn't rule out adding in other canon and original characters. It's really just about making signups/matching easier.

About the tag set: are you doing it by single character or is it also possible to do something like "Bilbo & Frodo" or "Elrond/Celebrían"?

The tagset will be set up by single character, much like the Yuletide exchange does. You'll still be able to request certain pairings in the details of your requests.
